International focus on GOPR e-training
From 14 to 17 October 2004 Zakopane held international conference of mountain rescue teams from all over the world – IKAR CISA.
During the conference that gathered few hundreds of rescuers "Keep safe in mountains!" e-training created by GOPR (Mountain Voluntary Rescue Team) has been presented. It was introduced as a unique open e-learning project covering mountain-safety issues and the presentation itself was devoted to providing knowledge on prophylactics to youth by means of new technologies. Training has been acclaimed and complimented by international audience of the conference.
As a consequence GOPR chief handed official request for recommendation to IKAR board. This recommendation - if issued - could be the first step to create multilingual version of GOPR e-training, teaching young tourists from all over the world how to prepare properly for mountain escapade, give first aid and survive in extreme situations.
Development of international version of e-training would be paid from EU funds and won’t affect GOPR budget (in the same way Polish version did not), and e-training itself would still be available for free to all interested.
