What is e-learning?
E-learning can be generally defined as a teaching by means of IT. This description is very general and includes various educational activities (self-studying, on-line lectures, discussions and group work on-line) conducted using various technologies and equipment (training in Internet, company intranet, CDs, portable devices etc.).

What e-learning consists of (what hardware, what software)?
E-training cannot be conducted without computers to present its content. Training materials can be distributed on CDs, but usually it involves computer networks (Internet, intranet, extranet).

Typically to take part in training one needs only two pieces of software: web browser (i.e. Internet Explorer) with Flash plug-in installed. This second feature is required as most of the training make use of Macromedia Flash interactive and multimedia technology.

Training that meet certain standards may be installed on various hardware platforms and software environments.

How to find out if e-learning will be good for my company?
It is best to find answer to this question during meeting with our consultants - which we invite you to. In meetings we always try to recommend what makes best option for this particular Client. When company employs many people who operate in many local branches (banks, insurance companies) then probably e-learning is a perfect solution. But smaller companies and institutions also can profit from this education method.

Is it worth to invest in e-learning?
Absolutely. It has been proved many times that e-learning is not only efficient, but also economic. Learning enhanced by multimedia produces very good results in understanding and memorizing the content and at the same time means significant reduction of costs and savings in time needed for learning.

What are e-learning strengths and weaknesses?
Most important e-learning advantages: reduction of expenses, time saved in result of lack of preparatory activities, training efficiency as a result of accurately composed didactic materials, ability to shape the training freely and deliver users up to date educational materials just in time.

General weaknesses of this method include: high initial costs, need of proper IT infrastructure, lower efficiency in teaching soft skills and less possibilities of interaction with other participants.

What are key terms in e-learning?
These are: synchronous and asynchronous training, which are conducted in a different ways with other level of participants' interaction; LMS, standing for Learning Management System; SCORM and AICC, standards of e-training development.

How to convince decision-makers to implement e-learning?
Easiest way is to convince decision-makers by showing them how company may benefit from implementing e-learning. Of course it does not mean that only bright sides of e-learning should be presented. During our meetings with Clients we always try to point at both strong and weak points of this method, so the decision-maker is fully aware of the advantages of e-training as well as of its limitations.

How to motivate employees to make use of e-learning?
If employees are to be properly motivated, they should be fully informed about plans of e-learning implementation, reasons of this process and potential benefits for them personally and for whole company.

Good way to motivate people may be showing that e-learning is successfully adapted by top management of the company and so called "informal leaders" existing in structure of every organization.
When it comes to training it is important that they should present content in interesting way and attractive form - not only making them more efficient, but also pleasuring and motivating for participants.

Can I make e- training on my own?
There are so called authoring tools allowing user to create simple training and educational programs. There is no need of any professional knowledge or skills to use them but it also means that you cannot create really complex and sophisticated educational content with their help.

Developing professional e-training involves many people: experts in covered subject, instructional designers, graphic designers and programmers. In case of large projects there must be also those who administer the training.

What is the difference between custom content and off the shelf training?
Off the shelf training are fixed educational products, intended for unspecific audience interested in less specialized material from given branch of knowledge. Usually they cannot be modified.

Custom content - or dedicated - training are created from scratch to respond Client specific needs and usually based on materials he provides.
